Description

#AALC

(( You know you need to update your app when you're embarrassed to link your previous one. . . . ))

Name: Ambrose (means "immortal")
Age: around 16? [144]
DoB: [March 27th, 1868 – the year plastic was born]
Gender: Male
Height: 172.8 cm/ 5'8''
Weight: 76.2 kg/ 168 lb.
Species: Human? It’s so confusing now . . .
House: Caora/Dobrahn
Personality: always frank about things, never exactly “good” or “evil,” persay . . . selfish, has a high opinion of himself (for good reason), smiles like the devil, loves the jingling of money in his hand (especially if it's new-- better check your purses, ladies), and will never believe something until he sees it with his own eyes
Skills:
+ agile, quick, ect.
+ fighting style: melee with plastic forks (seriously)
+ resourceful (it's the only thing that kept him alive in the OCT > >; )
+ pickpocketing, stealing in general
+ pain tolerance/ not giving a damn; ignoring all wounds until he can finally rest
Weaknesses:
- COINAGE. o o; (aka shiny coins. Or just valuables in general. Specifically yours. ^ ^; )
- spider forme (see history)
- general motion sickness (cars, trains, boats . . .)
- swimming (never learned how, and . . . well, if you would be seen as a spider if any stranger saw you and immediately start drowning, wouldn't that discourage you from the entire practice?)
- The Powers That Be/ THEM (deities of great power that are very, very interested in the red-haired boy; see history)
History: *inhale . . .*

Ambrose doesn't really care to remember his "history" before things were interesting. His first clear memory is of him performing the first of many, many heists against some form of museum, bank, or otherwise. His eyes were drawn to jewels. And coins. Coins especially. He can still recall the slick touch on his fingers, every ridge and form . . .

He won't say that he got sloppy; Ambrose was a professional thief if there ever was one. He just . . . slipped. He heard tale of a temple in the woods where a dragon kept his hoard (whether or not he believed in dragons didn't matter; dragons = gold = coins). When in the woods, however, he encountered a powerful swamp witch who, seeing all of the "bad" he had done, decided to place a powerful curse upon him: whoever lays eyes on him will see him as a horrible tarantula, unless knowing his name first (thus the name tag ever-present on his chest-- ironically, it shows up on his belly whenever seen as a spider). If someone finds out his name, he will immediately be seen as a human by that person from then-on, but only then.

After the curse-placement and several incidences involving walking into large cities, walking casually up to a jewelry display, a woman catching eye of him and screaming (usually an "EEK!"), and running away from an evil purse that could effectively kill him in one swing . . . He met Them. Specifically Disaster.

The Powers offered the boy an offer he couldn’t refuse: join Their ranks, gain ultimate power as a representative of Entropy (Chaos), and the curse would cease to matter. Ambrose quickly accepted a contract and a diatoma—a physical representation of a contract. It was only immediately afterwards that he found out what he had signed-up for. And, he wanted out. Only, it was too late for that.

Ambrose was eventually caught by police men due to an anonymous tip (meaning a parachute from Up There and some words scrawled onto attached paper), interrogated, and sent to the Ancedoctrian Asylum, a small and new facility located in the middle of the woods. Being the first patient (and soon figuring out the trigger of the curse), all of the staff knew his name, so they did not see him as a spider; eventually, as the years passed with him unchanged but left with new staff, him claiming to be “cursed” only labeled him as insane. As if curses existed!

Ambrose was obviously prone to making others unstable (if any of the fellow patients saw him, they would see as spider), so he was locked up in a concrete room with leather constraints. His only sources of entertainment were the voices outside, the voices Up There (bored to death but still willing to make conversation), and the leftovers of the reading materials provided daily (he always got stuck with the scientific dictionary, which made for him having a rather interesting vocabulary). After “accidently” obtaining a plastic fork by one of the wardens and “accidently” stumbling upon the master key from that same warden, along with convincing a patient to look at him in his cell (thus being perceived as a spider), Ambrose was able to escape his constraints and the asylum.

Then he ends up at the shore of the Academy at Lillegard Castle for the OCT and stays onward.

Notes of interest:
+ Him being seen as a spider and its curse varies from point to point; Ambrose never sees himself as a spider, but because that's how others view him he sometimes finds purse-swinging a lot more fearful than it usually is. It's a trick on perception: basically, how you're seen is how you are.
+ He gets really annoyed when people forget his name or don't know his name in the first place, for obvious reasons. However, he does not bother too much to remember other people's names. XD
+ He can't fight while viewed as a spider, only flee. He can, however, talk.
+ Ambrose has never been attracted to someone (unless you count "coins" as a person). There is only one person that he'll ever be attracted to . . . HER.
+ Curses like a sailor
+ It's rare that he's angry. Annoyed, yes, but not angry. Any character that manages to really tick him off would receive kudos from me, but honestly, you don't want him to be really angry. Due to recent events, Ambrose doesn’t get much sleep anymore and is thus very prone to outbursts of anger.
+ The Powers That Be are always watching, akin to the noisy audience of the world-stage.
+ Sadly, his spider forme doesn't have poison in its fangs. If it did, it would be a lot more convenient. Still, it sure looks like he's poisonous . . .
+ American. He doesn’t know his “lineage” at all.

Afterwards?: The academy is changing Ambrose, for better or worse.
= He’s gained a complex about “normalcy,” thanks to a certain cheetah. Being one of the most human-like students in AALC, Ambrose glares at the tails, wings, and what-not. He’s not jealous, just . . . left-out. Outcasted. The curse is really the only thing about his appearance that makes him “stand-out.”
= During the New Year’s Party, a mysterious woman made an appearance—HER. She convinced Ambrose to give away his diatoma, for whatever reason.
= The boy’s made some friends (Yuuki, Deneli, and Owen, to name a few) and got rather comfortable in his new life. Note the past tense.
= Due to the diatoma’s absence, Entropy was slowly seeping into his life, taking control at any chance of uncertainty or disorder (Richard Wallace figured out that solving math problems helped control this reaction). With the recent events of Shattered Echoes, Entropy has been mostly-sealed into its diatoma once more. There was a cost, however: any resistance to Their voices—gained throughout his stay in the asylum—was gone. Ambrose must start back at square one.

Ambrose doesn't really belong to anyone but himself, but I created him, so . . . don't steal. : P
